Loughborough University earlier this month celebrated its successful collaborations with partners across the public and private sectors.

More than 120 guests gathered at the Sir Denis Rooke building on the University’s Science and Enterprise Park – part of Leicestershire’s newest Enterprise Zone – to discover the winners of this year’s Enterprise Awards.

More than 9,000 public votes were cast to decide the most talented individuals and significant ventures in each of four categories – Impact from Research, One to Watch, Graduate Enterprise and Student Placement.

As well as recognising excellence, the Awards acknowledge the importance of the University’s partnerships with numerous businesses and professional organisations across the region and worldwide.

Amongst the winners was a research partnership with DEFRA to help manage bio-security threats; innovative emissions technology for cleaner diesel engines; a start-up developing wearable data technology and machine intelligence analytics for improved athletic performance; and a hugely successful student placement with Pirelli UK.

A full overview of the finalists is available on the Awards website.

The evening was hosted by Loughborough’s Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Enterprise, Tracy Bhamra.

Speaking after the event, she said: “These partnerships are fundamental to so much of what we do as a University. Not only do they enable successful enterprise activities, they also help to strengthen research, support teaching, deliver student placements and enhance graduate employment.”
